Creencias epistemológicas, estrategias de búsqueda de información, y criterios para validar la información de la Web

Resumen

Este trabajo describe un estudio exploratorio sobre 286 estudiantes de educación media del Mar del Plata (Argentina) acerca de los temas: a) lugares de acceso a Internet y sus frecuencias, b) estrategias utilizadas por los estudiantes en la búsqueda de información relevante en Internet, c) forma en que validan y dan sentido a los datos obtenidos, y d) sus creencias epistemológicas de los estudiantes. Los resultados indicaron que: a) los participantes estuvieron más dispuestos a utilizar estrategias de búsqueda elaboradas y abordajes superficiales para validar la información, b) diferentes frecuencias de acceso a Internet no revelaron impacto sobre las estrategias de búsqueda, c) los estudiantes mostraron un desarrollo epistemológico intermedio, d) se encontraron varias interrelaciones entre creencias epistemológicas, estrategias de búsqueda en Internet y criterios para validar la información de la web, y e) las mujeres mostraron creencias epistemológicas ligeramente más sofisticadas que los varones.
